Maps

I don't know when I wanted to travel or why really. Just the idea that there were maps - and maps were promises of places that I had never been that would be there when I got there. Then I found out about the getting there, there's as much good stuff along the way.

Along the way I came to find out how sweet the journey is. I may not be rich, or pretty, or super-smart. But I understand why people laugh, that tears are part of the deal and the joy in little quirky things - in that the true bliss of travel is found.

There are so many things that make life worth living. So many little wonderful things...the way a song makes your heart happy, something you buy at a drugstore that changes everything, an unexpected conversation on a train, a movie you can't forget, a moment that lasts forever, a perfect weekend, and certain stretch of road. And that stuff is just the tip of the iceberg.

There are so many things and most of them go unnoticed. I think that's a crime. So I'm gonna write them all down. I'd say 'just because' but that's not right. I'm doing it because I'm excited about it. Maybe in all if this, there's some bridge to be built between people - some people I'll never see just like the places on the map I'll never get to.
